Missing Mr. Sendak
"And now," cried Max, "let the wild rumpus start!"
One of my earliest memories involves this book. My parents read it to me many times, every day. As I've grown and become a teacher, it's been one of my favorite books to read aloud to my classes. Since I've become a parent, I've been sure to share this story with both of my children.
Thank you, Mr. Sendak, for the love of language and books you have shared.
I was sad to hear about his passing as well! He wrote many wonderful books. I love to read Where the Wild Things Are to my class each year too.
ReplyDeleteThis was the first book my mother bought just for me. I was in second grade and it had just come out. Now I also am a second grade teacher. Thanks for bringing back that memory.
